College Scholarships
Available
Since 1989, the Clark County Fair
Association Scholarship Fund has helped more than 200 students continue their
college education.
Through 2004, awards total over $258,000! In 2004 $8,000 in scholarships
were awarded to seven local youth.
The seven member Scholarship Committee, under the direction
of the Clark County Fair Board of Directors, oversee the handling of the Fund and yearly
awards. Applicants are judged in four major areas:
1 - Fair involvement
2 - Financial need
3 - Scholastic ability
4 - Future goals
The original money for the Scholarship Fund came from the
Clark County Fair Association and has grown with donations from many county businesses and
organizations. In 1988, the fund began receiving money from the Ag-Co bankruptcy for
the expressed purpose of providing educational assistance to youth who participate in the
Clark County Fair. Awards
are currently made from the interest generated by the fund and the principle remains to
help serve future Clark County students.
Applications for
the 2005-2006 school year are available in the Fair Office and at Clark
County High Schools through the vocational counselor office.
Deadline to return the completed application is April 30, 2005.
